Vedic Astrology has always been taught in the Guru-Sisya Parampara

Dakṣiṇāmūrti is an aspect of Shiva as a Guru (teacher). He is regarded to be the personification of the supreme or the ultimate awareness, understanding, and knowledge. Shiva is the considered the Guru of all Rishis and is the Parmeshti Guru for our Parampara.

Maharishi Parāśara is accredited as the author of the Brihat Parasara Hora Shastra, the basic text book for learning Jyotish. Most Jyotish traditions draw their lineage from Maharishi Parasara. He was the grandson of the sage Vasishtha and father of Veda Vyasa.

Sri Achyuta Dasa was one of the five disciples of Sri Chaitanya Mahaprabhu and an expert Jyotisa. He taught his 12 students the aspects of seeing the past, present and future. The village Kakatpur in Orissa still continues his work through the famous copper plate reader.

Pandit Sanjay Rath belongs to a traditional family of astrologers from Bira Balabhadrapur Sasan village of Puri, Orissa, which trace their lineage back to Shri Achyuta Das. He studied under his uncle, late Pandit Kasinath Rath. His grandfather, the late Pandit Jagannath Rath, was the Jyotish Ratna of Orissa and authored many books on Jyotish.

Pandit Sanjay Rath uses Brihat Parasara Hora Shastra, Jaimini Upadesa Sutras, Brihat Jataka and Saravali as the foundations of Jyotisha and teaches from various other Jyotish scripture and sacred literature such as the Bhagavad Gita, Upanisads, Puranas, etc.

To promote the teachings of his parampara he has formed the Shri Jagannath Center where his advanced students are helping to spread Jyotisha in a way that keeps its spiritual roots.
